b>Which Program is Right for Me?

Continuing education at WVDO is important to us and our members. WVDO provides you with professional fundraising tools to empower you in becoming a self-confident, strategic nonprofit leader. Participating in our programs will help you raise more money and strengthen relationships with donors.
WVDO members thrive on sharing ideas, experiences and expertise. Our continuing education is meant to do just that.
Whether you are an executive director, event planner, development director, board member or new to fundraising, WVDO offers a continuum of cost-effective educational opportunities no matter where you are in your career or how you’re involved in fundraising.

WVDO Development Series:


Registration 3:00 p.m., Program 3:30-5 p.m.
WVDO’s educational offerings give development professionals the opportunity to join a community of dedicated, experienced leaders in fundraising so they become confident and successful.
WVDO Development Series, open to all regardless of years of experience, will focus on small shops and supply hands-on applications for participants to apply immediately. This series aims to empower the future leaders of fundraising in our community. Specifically, this series of workshops will provide the knowledge and skills to build a solid foundation in fundraising know-how. This series also offers great opportunities to network.

Managing for Success


Registration 8:30a.m., Program 9:00 a.m.-12:00 pm
This series of continuing education focuses on you as a manager in the field of fundraising, especially those who are emerging managers. With topics ranging from personal communication, the role of a supervisor, decision making and managing change Breakfast with a Pro will strengthen your leadership and management skills by spending time with other managers in fundraising who can relate. Breakfast with a Pro will focus on management challenges facing fundraising professionals. It aims to provide you with a toolkit to tackle challenges you face day-to-day.

In addition to continuing education programs, WVDO also offers the following services:

Affinity Groups: Casual conversation and discussion about topoics of interest for WVDO members. Currently includes Grant Writing and WVDO Business Members, small shop development officers.
Job Source: listing of development related positions currently available in the area.
Mentorship: linking WVDO members for conversation and learning
WVDO Community Calendar: free listing of upcoming community events. Events are used in the
Portland Business Journal’s Book of Giving Calendar section.
IdeaEncore: free on-line resource of materials for nonprofit development from around the country.
