Our goal is to provide you with professional fundraising tools that empower you to be a confident, strategic nonprofit leader who raises more money and strengthens relationships with donors.  We thrive on sharing ideas and experiences and our programs are meant to do just that.

Whether you are an executive director, event planner, development director, board member or new to fundraising, WVDO offers a continuum of cost-effective educational opportunities no matter where you are in your career or how you’re involved in fundraising.



WVDO Programs/Workshops 


Development Series
These monthly workshops build basic fundraising skills and provide helpful take-aways for professionals and volunteers. Each session is 1.5 hours long with an optional 30 minutes at the beginning for networking.  


Major Gifts Symposium
1-day event focusing on skills/tools for major gifts and MOVES management. Collaboration with AFP-Seattle and Washington Major Gifts Symposium.

BOTC & WVDO Breakfasts
Bank of the Cascades & WVDO invite you to be our guest for breakfast at two thought provoking seminars created exclusively for Nonprofit & Foundation leaders. 


Professional Certificate in Nonprofit Fundraising: A WVDO program in partnership with PSU and the Center for Public Policy

This 9-month non-credit certification course gives you the skills to start your career in fundraising!  This program contains 3, 10-week courses that meet weekly to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to work in nonprofit development.  The course ends with a 10-week practicum performing a Development Audit at a local nonprofit and the completion of a portfolio illustrating work completed.  Applications are available through WVDO.


Executive Leadership Academy: Moving from Development to Executive Leadership

Developed specifically for development professionals looking to move into Executive Director or other leadership roles in nonprofits, this cohort fellowship focuses on building skills and capacities in areas outside of development.  Using a personal evaluation on the application, workshops will be focused on those areas where the cohort needs support.  This Fellowship includes:  Monthly 2-hour skill workshop, Monthly 2-hour case study discussion, Monthly mentor meeting with local Executive Director.

PCC Institute of Fundraising and Grant Writing with WVDO

Build the skills to successfully write grants and raise funds for worthy projects and organizations. Courses are taught by professionals with real experience, and will give you a comprehensive look at all aspects of the funding field. Geared for those working with nonprofits, those who aspire to do so, volunteers who support nonprofits in raising support.

Completion awards will be given to participants who complete all five PCC courses and attend five Willamette Valley Development Officers (WVDO) educational program events. Participants who earn an award of completion will be recognized at a WVDO event and receive a 
complimentary year-long membership.

Vision Action Network (VAN) and WVDO present a Workshop Series for Washington Country Nonprofits

VAN is a private nonprofit organization committed to the promotion and support of collaborative community-based problem solving. We believe strongly that we can be more successful working together than we can working alone. Our MISSION is to identify critical issues and support collaborative community-based solutions. We work across sectors – government, nonprofit, education, business and faith – to accomplish our mission. Part of our work involves promoting and supporting relationship-building, partnerships and collaboration to ensure solutions are sustainable and that the culture of working together in Washington County thrives.

This event brings business and nonprofit leaders together to find those connections that allow business to happen. Participants are matched nonprofit to business based on interest areas.


Affinity and Interest Groups

Affinity and interest groups are focused discussions based on WVDO member needs. These programs are free to WVDO members and topics are set by the attendees. 
Current groups include:  
Grant Writing, meets quarterly and Executive Directo, meets quarterly.
